Zebras Children’s Club is proud to present

“ Art For Autism” coming spring 2022!

Come and join Harri-art for some crafty fun in a safe, comforting and understanding environment.

Harriet ( Harri-art)- is the Co Founder of the charity and is a autistic and PDAer - ( Pathological Demand Avoidance). She is a Professional greeting card artist and Life Coach and has many years experience being a parent to autistic children, and working with autistic’s through the charity work. Harriet also has her own lived experience. Harriet is offering one- one art sessions to children aged 5-17 on Saturdays throughout the year.

The main aim for the project is for children who are autistic from the age of 5 to 17 to come along and explore a range of artistic endeavours in a comfortable enviroment. We are aware that there are limited places the children we support can go due to their complex needs. Therefore we are trying to offer the chance for children to access this unique opportunity.

What are the benefits of art for autistics?

Creating art and being around it can help improve their imagination and greater abstract thinking.

Art sessions such as these can enhance autistic children's communication through creative expression.

Studies have shown that art could have an effect on reducing behavioural problems, including social communicative behaviour, flexibility, and self-image. Further findings suggest that regular art sessions can help autistic children to regulate their emotions, interact with friends and family, and build self-confidence and self esteem.

How will the sessions take place?

Art for Autism sessions will take place at the charities premises - the Zebras Hub which is situated in Enfield in North London. Each child will be given an hours one - one session with Harriet. Parents can then relax in the gaming area in the hub, whilst in the same space as their child. Our Office Manager will be there to support parents and is more then happy to chat or put the kettle on! On sunny days the outside space will be used too. We understand better then anyone how difficult sticking to time slots are but please do arrive as on time as you can as there will be other bookings following yours, thank you.

The cost of each session is £30 - per hour. This is at a reduced rate and includes full usage of all art materials. Any finished creations can be taken home to keep. Payment can be made in cash on the day of your session or directly using the payment information on your invoice.

Once you have registered and booked all information regarding payment will be emailed to you along with a list of dates.

Sessions will run in blocks of 6 , and will take place fortnightly - every 2 weeks.

Payment can be made in advance if using an activity grant.

Want to give it a try?

Due to popular demand booking is essential. At the moment there are 8 spaces available . If you are unsuccessful this time your details will be stored and kept on the waiting list for the next set of sessions. Sessions will take place for your child every fortnight for 6 session blocks, however sessions will be running each week meaning more children can be offered a place.

If 2 weeks are missed in a row sadly we may have to consider your place so please do give us plenty of warning if you are not able to attend, thank you.
