ZEBRAS COMMUNITY CAFE opened 26th April 2019

Zebras Children and Adults charity prides itself on being providers of supported employment roles. Zebras Community Cafe opened in April 2019, and has plans to expand after its first year.

Zebras Community Cafe offers voluntary employment roles to adults with disabilities and students referred to us from Equals - Integrated Learning Disability Services and local Special Educational Needs Schools.

Our volunteers who work with us can gain work experience, serve the general public and build confidence whilst being supported by supervisor volunteers who will mentor and coach each individual. Volunteers can gain skills, record their developments and if they wish to gain a qualification in food hygiene, they can also enroll on further Volunteering training where a recognized certification can be gained via a fellow charity One- to -One.

“ Only 16 per cent of autistic adults in the UK are in full-time paid employment and only 32 per cent are in any kind of paid work”

Many of our volunteers are Autistic. We aim to change statistics and give as many people as we can the opportunity to experience work, or even gain long term paid employment roles within the charity.

10:00am until 2:00pm - Every Friday ( Term time only)

Beginning 26th April 2019

Ponders End Community Development Trust
Vincent House

Ponders End
Middlesex EN3 7FN

Everyone who volunteers with us can have the chance to gain their 100 hours certification verified via the Local Authority. The programme runs throughout the year, term times only.

Those who decide to join the team will be working with the general public in the Cafe that serves a range of good, healthy and nutritious food at reasonable, affordable prices.

The aim of the project is to provide work experience to people who may not be able to gain this else where and to offer good quality, wholesome food at a low cost within an area of poverty and deprivation. The cafe offers a space for the community to come together and reduce isolation.

The project is now listed on the Connect Well Enfield directory.

Additional special events will run throughout the year.

Zebras Children and Adults Charity is delighted to be currently level one Disability Confident Employers. We are therefore committed to ensure that disabled people and those with long term health conditions have the opportunities to fulfill their potential and realise their aspirations.
